Brook Lynn Dillon has always been responsible. Not that it’s done her much good. The down-on-her-luck waitress is broke, single and fun-deprived. Until Jase comes along. He is dangerous, stunningly protective, breathtakingly sexy and as tempting as sin, and the passion sizzling between them is undeniable. But can it melt her resistance? After all, the right kind of trouble might be just what they both need.
In this book we meet Brook Lynn, the responsible younger sister of Strawberry Valley's wild child, Jessie Kay. She is doing everything she can to make ends meet her sister's devil may care attitude is not helping matters, especially when they both end up unemployed. Mutual friend, Jase Hollister, steps in to help despite their less than stellar first meeting.
From the there the action really begins as Jase & Brook Lynn must not only come to terms with their own individual issues but also their inability to quench their undeniable thirst for each other. The last thing Brook Lynn needs is to get involved with Jase. For a lot of reasons but that doesn't stop their insane sexual chemistry that sparks off the page at every interaction!
What I loved most (in addition to their smokin' interactions) was their compelling back stories, and how Ms. Showalter weaved the story in such a way that had me flipping the pages to see what would happen next!
I really liked the juxtaposition of the two sisters and their vastly different lives, yet at the same time stayed true to each other. Though Jessie Kay left much to be desired in this book, there were enough hints at more for me to be really intrigued when it's time for her to settle down.
I would definitely recommend this book and series to anyone who loves a really great contemporary romance, loves brooding bad boys and sweet, strong heroines who know how to make them (and us) smile.
