Enter Weston Charles Channing, III, a laid-back socialite, surfer and popular writer of many Hollywood blockbusters who needs help fending off the gold diggers at functions so he can network. Mia is the perfect solution.
Over the next month, Wes and Mia enjoy each other both in a platonic and sexual manner. Boy, do they enjoy each other! Their chemistry radiates off the page and helps to move the book along quickly ensuring the reader never gets bored.
Since Mia is booked by the month of each of her clients, Mia & Wes are both aware of their looming countdown and that she will be moving on at the end of the month to another client, to another city. The idea pains them as they've grown closer, not only as friends, but as lovers as they come to realize they might be falling in love with each other.
Wes, who is initially dead set against this and made it one of his rules (never fall in love), is more open to the idea in the end telling Mia she "matters" even changing the female lead in his next movie to mirror her. Though the idea makes her happy, she is torn between her feelings for Wes and her family's desperate need for money. Hoping to convince her to stay, Wes offers to pay the million dollars she needs to keep her with him, to stop her from continuing to be an escort.
Though, I would have liked for Mia to be like "sure, pay by bills" just to get a HEA for her & Wes, I can definitely understand why she wouldn't want to feel like she owed him or have that hanging over their relationship.
In the end, Mia decides to leave for Seattle at the end of the month but not before writing Wes a Dear John letter. In the letter she promises to not only come back one day, but promises to stay friends (possibly with benefits) and that she will never forget him. Later, Mia finds a key from Wes (her key to his house) with a note saying he hopes one day she'll use it.
It was a perfect end to an all-around great novel, one that I gave 4 stars to. What I liked about this book was Mia & Wes' chemistry and their overall relationship. They were great together and though the ending is probably not going to be popular it still ensured I would definitely be willing to ride this journey with Mia to see where they go.
***Note: The next book in this serial will be coming out next month, and a new one every month thereafter until the end of the year.
